Paula Lowry Art

I am originally from Midleton, East Cork and work in my studio in Cork city and Mayo, engaging with a wide range of media...paint, drawing, sculpture, print, collage, batik, foundry,poetry and the Irish language.

My work explores the conflicted nature and beauty of reality foregrounding the body,
fish, flesh and fowl, thrift shop, discarded, and found objects as worthy of
investigation.
Through these objects I place the familiar and the changing Irish cultural,
secular, religious, family and feminist landscape in the wider context of
Contemporary Realism and Contemporary Still Life.
My work has been exhibited in Cork, Galway and Mayo, in private collections in
Ireland, Scotland, France and America, including a best student award where my
sculpture and poetry were presented to the then president Mary Robinson.
