A unique piece of work on a birch cradle panel. Framed in a nice simple white box frame.
Encaustic paintings are made with beeswax, damar resin (a natural tree sap that acts as a hardening agent), and pigment, combined sometimes with other mediums like oil paint, shellac varnish or other “mixed-media” like paper or material. Encaustics are painted on in hot, liquid layers, and then fused together with heat. Finished pieces can be very tactile, with a range of different textures and finished effects.
